In this cross-disciplinary course, I worked on a team of engineering, business, and information graduate students to develop a product that enhances social engagement during pandemic conditions.
After a major pivot away from a digital in- home solution mid-semester, we decided to develop a more convenient table shield to encourage more in-person interaction. While we first imagined a portable consumer product, we decided to design and market a more robust solution to businesses.
Named ShieldUP, we designed a modular and convenient table shield that includes features such as swappable panels, the ability to assemble various configurations, and easy cleaning.
As the sole designer of a team of six, I had one of the largest responsibilities. Not only was I heavily involved in product design, but marketing and branding as well. This included everything from initial concept sketches to final web design.
The goal was to produce a physical working prototype and present it and our business model at a trade show. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, we made this project entirely remote and presented it via its own website.
